Spirulina

Benefits

1. Spirulina is a blue-green alga with potential clinical applications, including immune modulation, anti-inflammatory properties, and potential health benefits such as antiviral and anti-allergic.

2. Evidence based studies have shown that spirulina may improve allergic rhinitis symptoms, modulate the immune system, and inhibit the release of histamine from mast cells.

3. Spirulina has been examined for its possible antiviral function, which is shown by in-vitro data that this algae can hinder replication of many enveloped viruses, including HIV-1.

4. Toxicological tests have supported the safety of spirulina, and it is listed by the US FDA as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS).

5. Spirulina may have potential applications in treating chronic fatigue, chronic arsenic poisoning, and cholesterol-lowering effects, but further research is needed to draw definitive conclusions.
